An online session of the History Lab was conducted on the theme “How Innovations Have Affected Us,” with a special focus on the Indian context. The session aimed to encourage students to explore how innovations across different periods have influenced Indian society, economy, culture, and everyday life. From pigeons to smart phones and from Earth to space.
The participants engaged enthusiastically in the discussions, sharing their perspectives on the impact of innovations on India’s growth and development. Soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon and the NISAR Mission.
The discussions were interactive and thought-provoking, with participants responding meaningfully to one another’s ideas and taking the conversation forward. They demonstrated confidence in expressing their views, the ability to engage constructively with diverse perspectives and an appreciation of the historical significance of innovation in shaping modern India. Also it sets us thinking whether we are moving forward or moving towards our own extinction?
Overall, the session was enriching and successful. It provided a valuable platform for students to connect historical developments with contemporary realities, think critically about the consequences of innovation, and recognise its continuing influence on Indian society.
