Library Week

Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open. ~Laura Bush

Even in the digital age, there is no substitute for books. The books stored on the shelves of libraries are the source of wisdom and knowledge.A library full of books can open the mind of the child.

To inculcate the habit of reading and help the students realize the significance of library and feel excited to go to this wonderful place serving as the store house of knowledge, the Library Week was observed in Prangan from 16thto 18th November.  During the week many fun-filled activities were conducted for the students of Grade II to V. Story telling sessionswere conducted for the students of Grade II and III during their library periods. Students were given biographies of some famous personalities to read, and discussionswere held. To enhance their general awareness, some interesting topics on General Knowledge were discussed with the students.Grade V expressed their thoughts beautifully in the form of Creative Writing on the ‘Importance of Library’. The Bulletin Board in Pranganwas a sight of curiosity, as the Question of the Day put up on the board would see students’ eagerness to write the answer and put in the box, waiting anxiously for the names of the winners to be announced at the end of the day. Questions were based on the great author Ruskin Bond and his stories and poems. The Library Week was a great learning experience for the students. It not only engaged them in interesting activities, but also reminded them that books are indeed a man’s best friend!
