English Plays - Grade II & III

The Little Red Hen

William Shakespeare, a world-famous playwright once said, “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.”

English department organizes play every year and this time it was done by grades 2 & 3. Thursday, 2nd and 16th December were extraordinary days for Grade 2 and 3 to showcase their talent as great orators and exceptional actors. The play – ‘Little Red Hen’ is taken from a Ladybird tale. It’s a short play and has six amusing characters, Little Red Hen, her chicks, a cat, a rat, and a goose. The play - ‘Whispering Palms’ written by Deepa Gangwani from the coursebook. There were three astounding narrators who pivoted and connected the play throughout the whole enactment. Children came dressed as fascinating characters and delivered the dialogues from the play with great conviction. 

Through this presentation, the students were able to foster effective communication, develop various skills, build confidence, enhance memory skills, presentational skills and inspire creativity. They also learnt about various elements of Drama. This also gave them a great sense of pleasure and enjoyment too.  

Overall, it was a gladdening experience to see the children participate with utmost zeal and enthusiasm. It enabled the students to polish their acting skills and gained confidence to express themselves and some came out of their comfort zone. Such activities aim at developing listening, speaking, and reading skills.
