Makar Sankranti Celebration at Prangan

“Nothing brings back the innocence of childish pleasures like kite flying. We don’t care how cool you are, it’s impossible not to squeal in delight when your kite finally takes the flight”.

Makar means Capricorn and Sankranti means movement. Makar Sankranti is the movement of Sun into Makar or Capricorn zodiac sign.It signifies the arrival of springtime, the season of fruitfulness. Kites are one of the first things that come to mind for celebrating springtime. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti festival, ‘The Sanskaar Valley School’ found this opportunity to teach students about the significance of it, which was held for the enthusiastic Pranganites (Prangan Block)during Online Event Time on Friday 15th January, 2021. They watched an entertaining and informative video on significance of Makar Sankranti, Pongal & Lohri. Children were given choices of designing their own kites including their favourite characters or making til and Jaggery Laddoos. It was fun to watch the students showing beautiful Kites and delicious Laddoos. Overall it was a fun filled activity.
