Mentor Period: A session to reflect on Cleanliness is next to Godliness

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Students got an opportunity to discuss how to implement different ways of being clean and tidy. The session started with an important statement by our honorable Prime Minister ‘My focus is not merely a beautiful city but a city that’s made beautiful on the parameters of good health and cleanliness’ which helped students to understand that cleanliness is one of the top priorities of our interest as a whole nation.

The students were encouraged to discuss the different aspects related to cleanliness i.e., Why to be clean? How to be clean? Where do we need to clean? What are the challenges? It was a wonderful experience to see students confidently sharing their views and opinions during the open forum. Creative thinking skills were explicit from their suggestions on practical ways to maintain cleanliness. Students also saw a short video on National Cleanliness Day.

Continuing with the Public Speaking Activity, students shared their views on the given theme. Students were calm and confident and were well prepared for the speech. Avni Yadav’s (IV B) speech on ‘Five things Mahatma Gandhi said about Sanitation’ was informative.  Anwita Kedilaya (III B)  explained ‘SUMAN- Sidha Ulta Mutthi Angutta Nakhun’ method of washing hands. Aanya Singh Rajput (IV B) spoke on ‘Cleanliness and it’s Positive Effects’. And Harshita Meena (II E) reminded everyone that Cleanliness is the Foremost Habit. Dhanishta (III E) urged her classmates to take a pledge for cleanliness.  Bhavin (III C) suggested that if we treat every public place as our own house, we will surely keep it clean. It was definitely a great experience for the speakers to enhance their speaking skills to an online audience.

Students were happy and excited to set examples for others by practicing all these healthy habits. They said clean surroundings will ensure healthy and positive mindsets. Students shared the posters and slogans with their classmates and put their best foot forward as Cleanliness Warriors.

It was a helpful session as students could develop their social skills during the social distancing time.
