Mentor Period - 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

With the aim of developing good habits from a very young age, a session on ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ was planned during the Mentors Time. Students were made aware of the importance of cleanliness of our surroundings and ways by which we can maintain cleanliness.

A clean environment makes a person feel happy, motivated and healthy, thereby helping to have a better self-image, this session was intended to enhance the ‘Self Awareness’ of students as well as their ‘Problem Solving’ skills by finding ways and means to have a clean and green environment.

The teacher explained that it is important to keep one’s home and surroundings clean.  The significance of maintaining neatness and cleanliness, along with Do’s and Dont’s was discussed.

During the sessions, the students also watched the video ‘Don’t Let Her Go’ which made them understand the necessity of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’.  The students also agreed to join in for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by doing their bit of small things.

Later, the online quiz added an excitement factor in the entire session.

Continuing with the Public Speaking Activity, students spo ke confidentlyon the theme ‘Personal Hygiene’ and ‘Cleanliness’. Ansh Chandnani (II B),  Gaurangi Kanungo (V E) and Charvi Kotwani (II D) explained the proverb’s meaning that a clean person is holy and next to God. It was definitely an amazing experience to listen to students bringing out different angles of the same proverb.

Aryan Meena (IV F) expressed his views on Swachh Bharat and quoted Mahatma Gandhi’s saying, “Sanitation is more important than independence”. Cleanliness and its importance during the COVID-19 pandemic were explained very well by Aadhya (IV B), Aarav Khan (II B), Aarish (IV B) and Arohi (IV B). Cleanliness of Environment was spoken by Praneet (V D). The entire Prangan family was proud to know that Meeraya Sable (II C) was the youngest member of I-Team Clean.

Public speaking helped the speakers to improve their communication skills and other students were benefitted by strengthening their listening skills. It was indeed a great time of peer learning!
