Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22 every year. On this day, events are held worldwide to show support for environmental protection. Earth Day reminds us to be loving and caring towards our Earth and take action.Therefore, to celebrate this day students of Class VD presented an assembly on ‘Earth Day’ to educate fellow students on the importance of sustainable development and taking care of our planet. Emphasis was laid on the global theme for this year’s Earth Day – ‘Invest in our planet’.
A skit was performed by the students that motivated all to keep the planet beautiful. The skit illustrated how the needs of human beings had increased and how they are mercilessly depleting the Earth’s resources. If we decide to do nothing and let things continue as they are, it will just get worse. It concluded with the strong message which is also an important SDG Goal, Goal-12: Responsible Consumptions and Production, that we must realise the danger and start taking steps to save ourselves and our beautiful planet. We must keep it green, just like it has always been.
The assembly continued by Mother Earth talking to mankind followed by a dance presentation which re-enforced the SDG - Goal 16 Peace and Justice Strong Institutions. The dance conveyed nuances about the little things we can do to take care of our Earth.
As a finale, the class pledged to do all that it could do to help the planet with a song performance. Perhaps the students of Prangan were reminded to avoid the use of cars where it is possible to walk, saving resources, turning off the tap while brushing teeth and stopping the use of plastic bags etc… Any effort, even a tiny endeavour would go a long way in saving mankind from disaster. They were reminded to recycle old and waste stuff. The main aim was to highlight the importance of conserving resources for our future generations.Headmistress Ms Manpreet Kaur Bhan encouraged the students with her presence. She applauded and appreciated the children for putting up a great show.
